CONTACT Listeners

If you think you have that certain way with people — a knack for listening empathetically, an ability to provide unconditional acceptance — we invite you to make a difference in people’s lives and enrich your own life by becoming a CONTACT Listener.

“CONTACT We Care offers volunteers a unique opportunity to work directly with individuals in need. To be able to have this one-on-one direct connection is a unique and rewarding volunteer opportunity.”

— Sue Fasano,
Training Director

As a CONTACT Listener you will answer calls to CONTACT’s Caring & Crisis Line and/or make Care Ring calls.

Beginning with the highest quality, comprehensive training program and continuing with on-going supervision and advanced trainings, CONTACT We Care ensures that each and every CONTACT Listener is prepared to deal with the wide range of issues they will confront on the phone lines. The 50-hour intensive Volunteer Training Program is taught by experts in active listening, grief recovery, mental health issues, substance abuse, and suicide prevention. It is dynamic and highly interactive.

CONTACT Listeners are asked to make a commitment to serving eight hours per month on the Caring and Crisis Line. As a 24-hour service, we offer a totally flexible schedule. Pick the days and times that work best for you!

CONTACT Listeners must be at least 18 years old.

CONTACT We Care is located in Union County, NJ. If this location is not convenient for you, please check our Links page for other CONTACT hotlines.
